In the basic human hierarchy of needs, breathing is followed by staying warm. You can consider clothing a shelter or warmer which you carry around with you all the time. In case of natural calamity or disaster, having proper survival clothes can save you from the worst situations. 

You can find tons of survival clothes out there. However, you must choose them according to the weather and environment. 

In an emergency survival situation, your apparel and accessories must have these qualities: 

• They should be lightweight
• They should be made up of the material which keeps you safe from environmental components. (e.g air, water, fire, cold, bugs, dust, etc.)
• Must be durable and sturdy
• They should be easy to wash, dry, and maintain. 
•  The colors should not be tacky, It will help you keep a low profile.

Jackets

A jacket is the most useful apparel you can use in an emergency situation. However, it must be warm and lightweight. It will help you stay cozy in a cold environment. A weather-resistant jacket can also be used as a sleeping bag in worse scenarios. 

Moreover, jackets that are specially designed for this purpose are turned into a compact form and do not take much space. They have several zips and open pockets in them. 

Rain Poncho

Getting wet in a disaster can lead to severe health issues. Therefore, you should always keep a good quality rain poncho in your kit. Rain ponchos much lighter and more compact form of a raincoat. 

Furthermore, multiple grommets and drawing string make it even more convenient to use in a rain emergency. They usually come with a water-resistant pouch attached to the inside. 

Boots

When your survival depends on your feel, a good pair of boots is all you need. Military and hiking-style boots are perfect for an emergency survival situation. They are designed for heavy-duty and ideal foot protection.

Moreover, boots with extra cushioning, advanced chassis and grippy soles will give you the best comfort in rough terrains. These are usually waterproof to get you through rainy weather. 

Gloves

Your choice and type of gloves will depend on the weather you are in. Multi-layered gloves will be used in an icy environment. On the contrary, summers demand light survival gloves only to protect your hands from impacts. 

It is not necessary to use the gloves designed for emergency situations, you can opt for anyone that is available to you. Prefer choosing those with rubber knuckles and odorless fabric. 

High-Visibility Vest

If you ever find yourself in the middle of nowhere, being seen by someone might be the only way of survival for you. For this purpose, you should carry a high-visibility vest. They are lightweight, breathable, and compressible. 

They are easily available in bright neon colors such as orange, green, and lemon yellow. These vests increase the chance of getting noticed from a distance.
