1. Setting Multiple Fishing Lines

This type of fishing is usually useful when you don’t have a fishing rod to fish. It involves creating your “Make-shift fishing pole,” not just one of it, but many. It is normally done by obtaining a willow reed or a strong stick and then tying a fish line. You will need to place the line with a few sinkers and a baited hook and then drop a water line.

To better increase your odds of catching a fish, this method involves dropping several lines into the water. Most of the time, the stick is secured to the ground by sticking the stick into the ground by the riverbank’s side. Another approach is when you tie the fishing line to the tree branch instead of the stick. This will also improve your chances of making a catch

2. Hand Fishing

This type of fishing dates back centuries ago. It involves fishing with the hand. If you have no equipment, but you still have your hands intact, this is an option to go for. Hand fishing is a primitive way to fish.

There are different techniques associated with hand fishing. They include:

  • Diving and digging for Clams, Crabs, or Lobsters
  • Catfish noodling: This involves catching the catfish from its hole with your bare hand. You block the hole and slowly dip your hand into it and allowing it to bite your hand and then slide your hand along its side until you grab the mouth or gills
  • Trout Tickling: This technique has been practiced for centuries, from ancient Greek poems to Shakespeare’s work. It is mostly illegal today, but you just have to do what you need to do to stay alive when SHTF. All you need to do is to tickle the underbelly of the Trout until it fell into a paralyzing state

3. Trotline

If you don’t want to actively depend on fish for survival in the wild, this is an option for you. A trotline is a passive way to catch fish that doesn’t require much attention.

Point in River

You just need to find a narrow point in a shallow river, but not too shallow.

Control Line

You could choose a cover also. It involves taking a length of paracord and then tying it from a tree branch on one side of the water to another tree branch on the opposite bank. Once this is done, you have formed the control line. This follows by taking sections of the fishing line and tying them to the control line.

You should make them long enough so that they can penetrate the water well. You should attach a hook to each of these lines and bait it. Tie the lines across the control to make a catch.

Other types of fishing include catching fish with

  • a net
  • gorge hooks
  • spearfishing
  • striking
  • fish traps
  • fishweir
  • stunning fish.
